Volunteers Step Forward
Three outstanding safety professionals have stepped forward to accept nominations for open positions on the Northern Plains Section Board. Volunteering for Treasurer is Clint Young, for Vice-Chair, Kara Felber, and for Member-at-Large, Auston Bile. Please take a look at their bios below.

Nominated for Treasurer: Clint Young, MPH, CPE, CSP
Clint Young is the EHS Manager for Hess Corporation based in Minot, ND. Clint has 18 years of experience in the environmental, health and safety field. Clint has a B.S. in Biomedical Science and a Master’s in Public Health in Environmental and Occupational Health from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. Upon graduation he began working as a safety consultant at Pathway Industries. In that role he provided safety consulting services for drilling, petrochemical, refining, manufacturing, food processing centers and chemical laboratories throughout the United States. He then spent four years at Jacob’s Engineering and BP in roles supporting construction safety and training.
Since 2010 Clint has been employed by Hess Corporation in various capacities. He is currently the EHS Manager supporting operations where he oversees environmental, health and safety programs for Bakken and Legacy production, oil gathering, water gathering, gas gathering and compressor stations, Tioga Gas Plant, Tioga Rail Terminal, the Maintenance/Reliability and Integrity (MR&I) group, commissioning as well as the work over and completion rig program. Clint holds the designations of Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) from the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. He also currently serves as the Treasurer for the Northern Plains Section of the Northwest Chapter of the ASSP and would be honored to continue to serve in any capacity requested.
Nominated for Vice Chair: Kara Felber
Kara Felber has served as a member of ASSP since 2012 and presently serves as Member-At-Large for the Northern Plains Section. She has been in the EHS profession since 2011. Ms. Felber began her safety career at Arcata Associates, Inc. in Las Vegas, NV followed by JT3, LLC. at Nellis Air Force Base, NV. Ms. Felber joined Trail King Industries, Inc. in 2013 and is currently a Senior EH&S Professional at the West Fargo location. Ms. Felber is responsible for all environmental, health and safety functions at the West Fargo facility including auditing, employee training, and mentoring.
Ms. Felber earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Ms. Felber holds certifications as a Safety and Health Practitioner, an OSHA Outreach Trainer for 10 and 30 hour General Industry instruction, and as a First Aid/CPR Trainer.
Ms. Felber is an active member of the Northern Region Association of Safety Professionals (NRASP) and the North Dakota Safety Council (NDSC). Ms. Felber has been married for 11 years and has two children, ages 11 and 9. She and her family are avid NDSU Bison fans and attend many sporting events together.
Nominated for Member at Large: Auston Biles
Auston Biles is a Cooperative Safety, Learning & Development Administrator at Basin Electric Power Cooperative’s Headquarters in Bismarck, ND.
Biles has more than 20 years of experience as a safety & training professional in the fire and emergency medical services fields as well as construction and general industry, and maintains CPR/AED/ First Aid Instructor and OSHA Certified Instructor certifications. In addition to his work as a safety professional, Biles’ passion lies in mentoring and coaching others to help them make positive choices that impact them, as well as their families, friends, and neighbors.
