3M Science of Fit at Innovation Center

Join the Northwest Chapter as we close out the monthly meeting season with a very special program opportunity at the 3M Innovation Center in Maplewood, MN.  We have a lined up special presentation from 3M’s Personal Safety Division in which we will get an inside look at what it takes to design various forms of PPE, a tour of the 3M Innovation Center, and a chance to sit in on a Northwest Chapter Board Meeting.

Learning objectives of the presentation:

1. Personal protective equipment (PPE) performance is a function of fit, comfort and compliance
2. Fit can be achieved by product design and verified on each individual worker
3. Students will learn an overview of some of the PPE fit methods

Erik Johnson is a Technical Service Specialist with the Personal Safety Division of 3M Company.  He has worked with this Division since 1994.  His current responsibilities include product development, application engineering, technical writing, and public speaking.  Previously his focus was technical service for the Asia/Pacific region.  Erik holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physics from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota and a Masters Degree in Public Health with emphasis in Industrial Hygiene from the University of Minnesota.  He is a certified industrial hygienist and certified safety professional.

Notice that the schedule and meeting times are different from what we usually do.  Pre-registration is required; walk-ins will not be accepted due to the building’s security requirements.  This event has a limit of 40 participants!  All attendees must register by Noon on 5/8/2023.
